CoolSculpting: The Process Explained

If you have tried multiple diets and other treatments to try to get rid of stubborn fat, then you have likely come across the treatment known as CoolSculpting.
CoolSculpting is a fat cell reduction treatment that is non-surgical and is based on cosmetic improvements, by helping to contour the body. In 2022, it has gained more popularity, because the results are permanent and the treatment itself is non-invasive, especially when compared to other fat removal procedures, such as liposuction.
If this all sounds too good to be true, then you may be in for a bit of a surprise as it gets better. Read on to learn more about the CoolSculpting process.
What Is CoolSculpting?
It was noted in the 1970s that fat tissues or fat cells become damaged faster by cold temperatures. This then led to the development of freezing fat cells, thus destroying them permanently, via a process known as cryolipolysis.
Cryolipolysis destroys the fat cells and induces an inflammatory response through the body, which promotes the fat cells to then be removed via natural processes. This solution was found to reduce fat by around 20% after 1 to 3 treatments, making it a very successful fat removal process. Just be sure when you are looking for somewhere to book your CoolSculpting treatment that they have experience in the procedure, so aim to have your treatment somewhere like dermani Medspa.
The Treatment
You may be curious as to what the treatment involves. The first step is the application of the gel, which creates a barrier between your skin and the cooling applicator. Then, the cooling applicator is applied to the treatment area and visually, it looks like a large vacuum. It will be used to pull fat bulges into the cooler part of the machine. This may tingle and be slightly uncomfortable, but more than likely, you will feel a cold sensation. After around 5 to 10 minutes, the area being treated will become numb, but you will feel no discomfort.
Depending on the area being treated, this process will usually last up to 1 hour, and after it is completed, your CoolSculpting practitioners will massage the area for around 2 to 5 minutes, which will help to remove the fat that has been destroyed.
Aftercare
CoolSculpting is minimally invasive, so there is practically no aftercare required. However, it is advised that you avoid direct heat or activities that may cause your temperature to rise, such as vigorous activities or heavy lifting in the 24 hours following your procedure.
Suitability
Most people who are over the age of 18 would pass the initial screening for CoolSculpting. However, you will need to have a minimum of around 1 inch of pinchable fat for the cooling panels to have the best effect.
Remember, CoolSculpting is not about weight loss; it is about sculpting and reducing fat. If you aren’t sure if you’re suitable for this procedure, please talk to your chosen provider.
