Tennessee Volquest- Final Practice of Preseason Camp and Mock Game Looms

The Volquest wrapped up their final practice of preseason camp on Tuesday before preparing for the Mock Game on Wednesday. For the most up-to-date information, read Vol Report’s article Vols Practice: Mock Game Looms. The article also features Vols’ other top recruits. Read on for more details on these players. If you’re interested in Tennessee basketball, we have several articles on our site about our program.

Aubrey Solomon

Auburn football fans are anxiously waiting for the official waiver status of Aubrey Solomon, a former five-star recruit out of Michigan. Regardless of what the NCAA has to say about the situation, the junior tackle is a talented developmental player who will lead the team’s young offensive line. While we were not able to make sure Solomon would play, he was listed along with Jordan Gooden as one of the best prospects to have a breakout season.

In the spring of 2019, Solomon’s season was better than his previous one. He started nine games, recorded 28 tackles, and had two sacks. He also recovered a fumble. He was a solid run defender, and his final season at Michigan was marred by injuries. The college community-rated him as the No. 30 player overall and the No. 3 defensive tackle in the country by 247Sports. The Tennessee scouting staff did not immediately rule on his transfer, but the college has not announced a decision on the transfer.

Michigan lineman

Despite his injury history, the Tennessee athletic department cleared Solomon for immediate NCAA eligibility. The former Michigan lineman will immediately start on the defensive line in Nashville. The Vols will be without three starters on the defensive line after the loss of Emmit Gooden to a training camp injury. If Solomon had not been cleared for immediate eligibility, the Volunteers would have been scrambling to find a replacement. In addition to his collegiate success, the Tennessee football team has struggled to find a starter on the defensive line. Solomon will provide a much-needed boost to the defensive line.

Josh Heupel’s recruiting success

A lot of the credit for Tennessee’s recent success in recruiting a quarterback goes to Heupel. The Vols have already made significant strides in recruiting in-state quarterbacks, including JaVonta Payton, who announced his transfer to Tennessee from Mississippi State. The commitment is impressive in many areas, including off-field recruiting and the return of talent that was a part of the Vols’ success in the early 2000s.

University of Central Florida

Heupel spent three seasons at the University of Central Florida and was an assistant coach last season. He had great success, winning the American Athletic Conference championship in 2017 and taking the team to the Fiesta Bowl in 2018. Prior to his time at UCF, Heupel spent two seasons as an offensive coordinator at Missouri. He was fired from his post at Oklahoma in January 2015. The Tennessee program was fortunate to hire Heupel because he possesses the right skills to be an effective coach at Volquest.

While the Volquest 2022 recruiting class was relatively unimpressive, Tennessee’s 2023 recruiting class is off to a good start. With nine commitments, Tennessee volleyball’s class is No. 9 nationally and in the running for several elite recruits. One of these is three-star offensive tackle Ayden Bussell. Bussell spoke with VolQuest this week about his recruiting success under Heupel. He said that Tennessee can pick in-state recruits and compete with some of the top programs in the nation.

Tennessee’s other top recruits

The commitment of six-star offensive lineman Nico Iamaleava could jumpstart the recruiting class of the 2023 season. He joins wide receiver Adarius Redmond, another top recruit, and offensive lineman Brycen Sanders in the Top 100. Iamaleava is the most highly recruited player in Tennessee’s history, but other top prospects are also being courted. Tennessee’s offensive offense ranked ninth nationally with 474.9 yards per game, and Hendon Hooker threw for 2,945 yards and 31 touchdowns. Iamaleava has the potential to put up elite numbers for the Volunteers in Heupel’s offense.

Tate’s recruiting efforts have paid off with a visit from his family to campus. Kasper is another offensive target with elite pass-catching skills, and the two are expected to have a good time in Knoxville. He will make his official visit to the Volquest during the early signing period. Tennessee will be looking to counter Ohio State’s elite pass-catcher. Despite the competition, the Vols have a good chance of landing this player.

Final Words:

In the running back position, Tennessee will likely be in the mix to bring in Justin Williams. Justin Williams, who recently de-committed from West Virginia, is a big priority for the Tennessee coaching staff. He spent the last two weekends in Knoxville and has a visit scheduled against Auburn this weekend. Auburn has not yet offered him, but an offer would be a big deal for him. Also, Alabama and Michigan are both looking to add running back Justin Williams to their roster.
